Although states have slight variations of their CNA requirements, most exams have a similar format. They consist of a group of written questions, as well as a clinical/skill exam. The written section of the CNA exam will cover some of the main practitioner areas such as:
- Activities of Daily Living
- Body Mechanics
- Client Rights
- Client Cultural and Spiritual Needs
- Mental Health
- Nutrition
- Personal Care
- Vital Signs
- Safety and More
Once an exam is passed, you can normally submit the results to your state’s Department of Health which will allow you to get added to the state’s CNA registry. Keep in mind that each state’s process is different.
