Who is the Regulatory Body for CNAs in Colorado?

In the state of Colorado, CNA certification is overseen by the Colorado Board of Nursing, which is under the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.

Who Administers the CNA Exam in Colorado?

Colorado State Requirements for CNAs

There are many opportunities for CNA classes in the state of Colorado. Additionally, many of the classes and program options are employer-sponsored, and some offer job offers at the successful conclusion of the program. CNA classes are available at long-term health care facilities, nursing homes, and community colleges. Candidates must complete a minimum of 75 hours of classes. These 75 hours are broken up into 59 hours of classroom learning, and then 16 hours of on-site clinical learning. Once classes are completed, candidates may apply with Credentia to register for the CNA exam.

For those that were formerly RNs, certified in another state, were a nurse who has trained outside of the U.S., is seeking to be reinstated, or is currently a practicing RN, there are different eligibility requirements that may not require the 75 hours of classes at a state-approved program. Colorado CNA Exam Details

In the state of Colorado, the exam is the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program exam. It consists of two sections, a written exam and a clinical skills exam. There are five skills assigned in the clinical skills section, test takers must complete these skills within 25 minutes. The written exam is 70 questions that must be completed in 90 minutes. Content covered in the written exam include the role of the nurse aid, communication, client rights, psychosocial care skills, and physical care skills.

How Much Does the Colorado CNA Exam Cost?

The cost of the exam is $135 for both the written and skills section, with the written only cost at $50 and the skills only cost at $85. There is also an oral option, for the same cost.
