Who is the Regulatory Body for CNAs in Maine?
In Maine, the CNA Registry is regulated by the Division of Licensing and Certification, a division of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
Maine State Requirements for CNAs
Candidates must undergo classes at a nurse aide competency program with 180 hours of class time. This includes 90 hours of classroom, 20 hours of clinical work and 70 hours of supervised clinical practice. If you were trained as a CNA in another state, you may also apply for the Main CNA Registry, so long as specific document requirements that cover out of state exam and education certifications are met. Upon completion, candidates must apply to the Maine Registry of Certified Nursing Assistants & Direct Care Workers.
