Montana State Requirements for CNAs
Nurse aide candidates must take an approved CNA course. This consists of a minimum of 75 hours of classroom work, consisting of 50 hours of classroom experience and 25-30 hours of clinical learning. Once this completed, candidates are eligible to take the CNA examination. Upon successfully passing the exam, candidates can apply to be listed on the state registry. Candidates may take the exam 3 times within 6 months to successfully pass it. Candidates may also challenge having to take the exam if they fall under a set of qualifying criteria.
Montana CNA Exam Details
Candidates in Montana take a two-part exam to be eligible for placement onto the Montana Nurse Aide Registry. The exam contains two parts, the knowledge/oral test and the manual skills test.
The knowledge oral test has 72 questions and must be completed within 90 minutes. The manual skills test starts with hand washing. From there, four other tasks will be selected. These tasks must be completed within 35 minutes.
