Certification Renewal for Connecticut Nurse Aides
As with most states, CNAs in Connecticut must renew their certification every 24 months. The eligibility criterium for certification renewal is the completion of an 8-hour paid shift of providing nursing care or direct personal care services within the last 24 months. The new expiration date is calculated from the date of your last employment. There is no fee for renewal. Nurse aides who meet the eligibility criterium but fail to submit the employment verification form within 24 months of their last certification will take the same route:
Lapsed Nurse Aide Certificate
Nurse aides whose certification has expired and do not meet the eligibility criterium for renewal are required to re-take the practical and written examinations to reinstate their certification.
Out-of-state Certification Transfer
Nurse aides with active certifications and in good standing in another state may apply for certification via reciprocity.
