In New Hampshire, CNAs are referred to as Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs). The New Hampshire (NH) Board of Nursing is responsible for credentialing LNAs and maintaining the New Hampshire CNA registry. The route to becoming a new LNA in New Hampshire entails the completion of a state-approved training program, followed by the passing of a two-part competency assessment. Only LNAs whose names have been placed on the registry are eligible for employment as Licensed Nursing Assistants in the state of New Hampshire.

Upon completing a state-approved training program and clearing background checks, candidates must pass the LNA exam, which consists of a written knowledge test and a clinical skills test. Certification Renewal for NH LNAs
Nursing assistant licenses must be renewed every 2 years. Eligibility requirements for maintaining an active status on the registry include:
- The active practice of 200 hours as a nursing assistant within the past 24 months.
- 12 hours of continuing education per each year of the last 2 years

License Reinstatement
According to the CNA registry in New Hampshire, if a nursing assistant does not meet the eligibility criteria for license renewal, their license will become inactive. To reactivate licensure, the respective candidates must pass both the knowledge and skills competency testing. A reinstatement application can be requested from the NH Board of Nursing, which will send by mail a list of approved testing facilities. The candidate must take the test and submit the reinstatement application along with the test results and fee to the New Hampshire Board of Nursing.

Nursing assistants that have an active and in good standing certification on another’s states registry can become Licensed in New Hampshire by endorsement. Requirements include:

- The completion of a written and clinical competency testing within the last two years.
